Unit 1: Introduction to Marketing

  4. Explain the different approaches to the study of marketing.
  5. Discuss the importance of marketing to the firm and customers.

Unit 2: Evolution of Marketing Concept

  1. Identify the need to develop marketing concept.
  2. Explain various types of marketing Concepts.
  3. Conduct a case study on marketing concept

Unit 3: Marketing Mix and Its Components

  1. Define marketing mix;
  2. Explain the elements or components of marketing mix;
  3. Describe the importance of marketing mix;
  4. Participate in case analysis and solve the identified problems.

Unit 4: Components of Marketing

  1. Discuss the various concepts of market.
  2. Explain the types of markets with its features.
  3. Explain the features of Nepalese market
  4. Discuss and classify customers and buyers.
  5. Describe the buying motives of customers.
  6. Define demand.
  7. Describe the meaning of need, drive, wants, and creation of demand.
  8. Explain the marketing process for delivering products and satisfaction to the customers and show its structure;
  9. Point out the key players in marketing decisions.

Unit 5: Marketing Functions

  1. Describe the various types of marketing functions.
  2. Explain the merchandising function of marketing.
  3. Describe the distribution functions of marketing with its methods and types.
  4. Point out the types of marketing intermediaries and describe the importance of wholesalers and retailers in marketing.
  5. Discuss the meaning and types of agents, wholesalers,  and retailers.
  6. Discuss the facilitating functions of marketing.
  7. Define grading, standardization, and salesmanship.
  8. Conduct field visit and its class presentations.

Unit 6: Marketing Environment

  1. Define marketing environment with the features of marketing environment.
  2. Explain the components of marketing environment.
  3. Distinguish between internal and external marketing environments.
  4. Discuss the concept and features of microenvironment;
  5. Conduct a market survey and evaluate the effect of environmental forces on a firm's marketing activities.

Unit 7: Buyer Behaviour and Buying Decision

  1. Describe the meaning of buyer and buyer behavior with their features.
  2. Explain the need for understanding buyer behavior.
  3. Explain the buying process of individual buyer or consumer buying process.
  4. Explain the buying process of an organization or organizational buying process.
  5. Conduct a market survey and prepare a survey report.
  6. Conduct a case study on buyer behavior regarding how the buyers do.

Unit 8: Marketing Information System

  1. Define marketing information System with its features.
  2. Discuss the importance of marketing information.
  3. Describe the elements or components of marketing information system.
  4. Define Internal Records System, marketing intelligence system and decision support system.
  5. Describe the meaning of marketing research with its features
  6. Explain about the process of marketing research.

Unit 9: Project Work and Report Preparation

  1. Describe concept of research/project work, research process, and research methodologies.
  2. Select project area and a topic;
  3. Prepare a questionnaire.
  4. Organize a field visit and collect data and information.
  5. Analyze data and prepare a report.
  6. Present and submit the project report.
